Eilo goes south!
We are very excited to announce that EILO, which is traditionally rooted in the North West of Europe, will now travel towards the South of the continent. To Madrid, to be precise. A city where interior greenery is both challenging ánd offering opportunities that people in colder countries can only dream of.
We will be immersed in fantastic green projects, and we will have lunch in some of them. Even our hotel has a wonderful green wall and is located in a very lively part of the city.
But, we will also spend considerable time on education and we will hold our Award Ceremony on our last evening in the city.
Do not wait too long to reserve your spot and book the hotel. We have an absolute maximum of 60 participants. The programme is not final yet, so stay tuned as we’ll keep updating this page.

The programme
Thursday 25 september
On Thursday morning we will visit the famous Arganzuela Palacio de Cristal. Here you can find many plant environments; jungle, desert and mediterranean and we will get a lecture by Jose Luis Fernandez Alonso, who is a specialist in tropical plants.
On our way to this project we will pass by the famous Patrick Blanc wall at Caixa Forum and we will visit and then have lunch in the restaurant with the largest green wall of at least Madrid, Restaurante Bálamo.
After lunch we will have an -very Spanish, but also a bit nordic – hour break.
At 3.30 PM we will start our afternoon programme that on this day is dedicated to education. More on this will follow.
Of course we will have dinner, at around 8/9 PM in another fabulous Madrid restaurant.
friday 26 september
On this day we will follow the same idea: visiting projects in the morning, going inside during the hot afternoon.
This day we will take the bus and visit two bank office buildings. Both with truly impressive greenery.
The first is the headoffice of the Ciudad Grupo Santander bank and the second is a very old project, which is now also a Santander bank, in Paseo Recoletos. This is an indoor garden created in 1975 in the former Banco Pastor, explained by his famous landscaper, Luis Camino.
On Friday we will have lunch in a restaurant next to the lake in the Casa de Campo, the biggest park of Madrid.
We will again take a short siesta after lunch and will continue at 3.30 PM with a symposium filled with interesting projects and speakers.
This year is an EILO Best Project year and we will celebrate the winners during Friday dinner.
THE HOTEL
We found a hotel that fits wonderfully with our visit. It has a fabulous green wall, is located in a lovely part of the city, sits in a medium price range and is able to host both our education and symposium activities and the Award ceremony dinner on Friday. It is called the Inhala Garden Hotel and the first 25 participants will have their rooms secured. After August 4, rooms will be given out on availabilty, so make sure to book early. Of course, you are not obliged to stay in this hotel and are welcome to find your own type of lodging.
So, to be sure: all lunches, dinners, and excursions are covered in the excursion fee, but you will need to book and pay your hotel with breakfast separately. The hotel has reserved 40 rooms for us. You can book them through this form.
