The Atrium Lumière project was born from a shared ambition between the developer Primonial REIM, the architects at RAAM Architecture, and our team of plant designers: to rethink a commercial lobby as a true living space.
In a professional world where quality of life at work has become essential, this project embodies a profound shift in perspective transforming a passageway into a space for experience.
Located at 40 avenue des Terroirs de France in Paris, this 53,000 m² lobby has undergone an ambitious transformation to become a structured, calming, and welcoming green environment. The challenge: to design a unifying, fluid, and vibrant space. Atrium Lumière demonstrates that an indoor planting project can be:
Ambitious, through its scale and its ability to transform the overall atmosphere of a building,
Sustainable, thanks to a selection of adapted species, thoughtful maintenance, and a coherent management of constraints (light, watering, volume, etc.).
Socially meaningful, by responding to the growing need for nature, calm, and reconnection with the living world in work environments. The lobby is no longer just a waiting area. It becomes a vibrant heart, a breathing space that encourages relaxation, encounters, and informal work.
The project’s photos reflect this transformation: Hanging planters bring life to the balconies, Abundant natural light highlights each plant and enhances the feeling of openness, Green and soothing perspectives structure the walkways and define areas of use. The plant palette was conceived as a living composition, capable of thriving in low-light environments, while offering a diversity of shapes, textures, colors, and scents. It combines Mediterranean plants, evergreen foliage, and architecturally shaped perennials to strike a balance between lightness, volume, and durability. Among the key species: Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo): a small Mediterranean tree with red fruits and graceful form, White oleander and white agapanthus: luminous and elegant blooms, Choisya, lavender, sage: subtle scents and a soothing atmosphere, Gaura, fleabane, spurge: airy silhouettes that gently animate the space, Dichondra, periwinkle: trailing plants that delicately dress the planters.
Conceived in dialogue with materials (wood, metal) and light, this palette reflects our intention to create a sensitive interior architecture open to the living world and rooted in the challenges of ecological transition, mental well-being, and long term sustainability.
